Summary[]

On a seemingly normal day, Zen and Shirayuki suddenly find themselves in an uncomfortable situation when they meet with Mihaya and learn that there may be an attempted kidnapping of Shirayuki. Things become even more strained when Shirayuki is informed that she has been invited to a ball in Tanbarun.

Plot[]

During the night, a mysterious person makes his way toward Wistal Palace with the comment of wondering how Shirayuki is doing.

In the castle, the herbalists are cleaning the medical wing together. Garak hands Yatsufusa a list for him and Shirayuki to follow when organizing the herbs. As Shirayuki heads off to start on the organizing, Garak voices her impression at how motivated Shirayuki is and how she has become a valued member of their team.

Outside in the courtyard, Ryuu is doing paperwork when a gust of wind sends some of his papers into a tree. A passing Obi spots Ryuu in his dilemma and asks if the young boy will climb the tree to get his paper back. However, he is surprised to hear Ryuu admit that he doesn't know how to climb a tree and carries him on his shoulders to reach the paper. After Ryuu gets the paper, Obi playfully carries him back to the medical wing.

In Zen's office, Mitsuhide notices how hard Zen is working and learns from Kiki that Zen had notices how busy Shirayuki was working earlier and decided to double his own efforts. In the flurry of his work, Zen cuts his finger on a document but feels he doesn't need to go to the medical wing until Mitsuhide convinces him with a fable of people turning into paper people from infection. As Kiki accompanies Zen, she states that he can now see Shirayuki without feeling guilty. Zen agrees but feels that he could get laughed at for needing something as simple as a papercut looked at. Kiki assures him that Shirayuki would never make fun of him. Zen agrees and knows that Shirayuki always takes him serious, which is why feels he cannot do anything halfway anymore. They notice Izana watching them and suspect he knows where they are headed. Seeing his brother's expression, Zen feels that Izana is the one laughing at him but swears that his brother's days of laughing at him are coming to an end.

Reaching the medical wing, Obi sees all of the equipment being dried off and spots a plant in the corner. Ryuu explains that the plant doesn't treat anything and that Shirayuki simply placed it there for decoration. Shirayuki then arrives while carrying several boxes. Obi helps her place them and Shirayuki then gives Ryuu a report on the herb inventory. After she leaves to take care of other things, Obi himself is about to leave when Ryuu stops him and gifts him seeds that will grow into the same flower Shirayuki put out as a thanks for helping Ryuu gather his paper earlier.

In Garak's office, Zen arrives and informs her about the papercut he gave himself. He becomes annoyed when Garak teases Zen with the same story Mitsuhide did but accepters her help to treat the cut. A while later, Garak's staff informs her that all of the cleaning has been completed and are given the rest of the day off but informs Shirayuki that someone is waiting for her in the bunk room. Once there, Shirayuki spots Zen sleeping and notices the cut on his thumb. When she gently touches it, Zen unconsciously holds her hand before briefly waking. Mitsuhide soon arrives to retrieve Zen.

Later, Zen is cleaning his office when he notices Obi lounging about. Noticing that Obi is casually tossing and catching a blue seed, Zen asks if he obtain it from Shirayuki. Obi answers that it was a gift from Ryuu and learns that Shirayuki is actually looking for seeds like the one Obi has but has been having difficulty locating the different colors.

In his own office, Izana receives a correspondence letter from Tanbarun that sparks his interest upon reading it.

Locating Ryuu in the greenhouse, Obi says that Ryuu should take back the seeds he gave him with the reasoning that he's not familiar with growing plants and that he is unsure of how much longer he will be at the castle. Ryuu states that Obi should continue to keep the seeds as he says that they do not require much attention or care and can plant them wherever he decides to settle down. Shirayuki suddenly appears looking for Ryuu and is surprised to see Obi but comments how she feels better knowing that Obi was around Ryuu.

Obi notices the petals on Shirayuki's flowers are gone and she explains that she simply pruned the petals to help keep the plant in better health in the long term. Obi asks if she's managed to find all the colors she needs but she answers that she's still missing the blue seed but will simply wait until the following year. Obi quietly pockets the seeds he has and winks at Ryuu. As Shirayuki and Obi walk out of the greenhouse, Mitsuhide comes rushing toward them looking for Shirayuki.

In Zen's office, Shirayuki is startled to hear that she and Zen specifically are needed to speak with Mihaya. Obi questions if this was the same person who had tried to kidnap Shirayuki and is startled by Zen's angry outburst. Seeing the prince react this way, Obi right away deems Mihaya as a threat. Going forward with the meeting, Mihaya attempts to greet Shirayuki but is kept on edge when he see's how angry Zen is. Mihaya asks Shirayuki if she has heard of a boy named Kazuki but again is cut off by Zen demanding he get to the point. Mihaya explains that he was released from jail not too long ago and decided to try to start earning money. He ended up on a ship where he overheard Kazuki speaking describing Shirayuki's features to someone. When the person speaking to Kazuki walked away, Mihaya tells Kazuki that he had met the girl he was describing.

Zen becomes angered thinking that Mihaya gave Kazuki information on Shirayuki. Finished with his tale, Mihaya then reveals that, in exchange for telling them all of this, he wishes to either be granted a large sum of money or to be given a position in the castle. Mitsuhide has to hold Zen back when the prince attempts to charge at Mihaya. Mihaya then reveals that he also has information on Kazuki that he will give them if Zen agrees to his conditions. When Zen briefly calms down, he says that he will only agree after he hears what Mihaya knows.

Mihaya says that Kazuki had a certain reason for looking for Shirayuki. Kazuki claims that someone like Shirayuki shouldn't be behind castle walls and should be out for others to admire. Before they can get any further, Zen and Shirayuki are summoned to meet with Izana.

Izana admits that his business is with Shirayuki but knew that Zen would be upset if she had come alone. He then tells the two that Shirayuki has been invited to a ball in Tanbarun as a means of thanking Shirayuki for taking care of Raji when he had been a guest in Clarines not too long ago. Izana continues by saying that, since that visit, Raji has suddenly taken his role as a ruler more seriously. He believes that Shirayuki had something to do with this and guesses that her invitation is a way for the people of Tanbarun to see who it was that made the change in their prince.

Zen becomes angered, believing that this is Izana's way of getting Shirayuki to leave. Izana replies that this concern won't be an issue if Raji really has changed. He adds that since Raji is the rightful heir to the throne of one of Clarines' neighboring kingdoms, they can't appear too rude toward him or else it will not look good for Clarines. Izana states that Shirayuki will stay in Tanbarun for seven days and must go through two weeks of training to have proper etiquette so she will not make Clarines look bad. After Izana notices her silence, Shirayuki is about to reply when Zen steps forward and kneels to his brother. He requests one condition be added to the situation and asks that someone he trusts accompanies Shirayuki to Tanbarun. With Izana agreeing to Zen's request, Shirayuki says that she will go.

Later, Zen informs Mitsuhide, Obi, and Kiki of Shirayuki's invitation to the Tanbarun ball. Naturally, they find the timing of it odd since they just learned that there may be an attempted kidnapping of Shirayuki. After hearing Mihaya is under guard in the castle, Zen asks that Mitsuhide be the one to accompany Shirayuki to Tanbarun. Elsewhere, Shirayuki is given her own room in the castle until she departs for Tanbarun. Exhausted, Shirayuki reflects over everything that has taken place throughout the day.
