Summary[]

As Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki continue their investigation of Kazuki, Raji and Shirayuki find themselves being examined.

Plot[]

While getting her hair brushed, Princess Rona Shenazard listens to her maids as they speak of Shirayuki, her red hair, and how Raji seems to have changed for the better due to her. Hearing all of this, Rona quickly gathers her twin brother, Prince Eugena Shenazard, to go investigate Shirayuki.

After Shirayuki tucks away the pocket watch Zen gave her, she is joined by Obi who wishes to confirm that she is not pushing herself to be in Raji's company. Shirayuki assures him that she isn't and the two leave to join Raji. While having tea together, Shirayuki and Raji attempt to make conversation but are clearly struggling. After Shirayuki departs with Obi, Sakaki asks Raji how he feels things are going. Raji is at a loss of the entire situation and how to get better acquainted with Shirayuki.

Outside on the balcony, Shirayuki looks over Tanbarun and admires the view of the town. Obi comments how he would like to visit the local taverns. Shirayuki reveals that her home use to be one and was run by her late grandparents. Obi is surprised hearing this, having assumed that Shirayuki's grandparent's had been pharmacists. Shirayuki reveals that she was born in the mountains but doesn't remember much since her grandparent's took her in very early on. Although she wishes that she could visit the people who helped raise her, Shirayuki states that she must remain focused on the task at hand since it could bring a great outcome for everyone involved. Raji suddenly appears and offers to take Shirayuki on a tour of the castle.

Back in Clarines, Kiki is informing Zen that they have increased the number of soldiers and are still looking for more information but still have had no luck in finding Kazuki. Zen voices how he wishes they could at least find out why Kazuki is after Shirayuki. After Mitsuhide informs Zen that Mihaya is accompanying soldiers in town to further help the investigation, Zen reflects how Shirayuki is in Tanbarun doing what she can to help them and is determined to do what he can to help her.

As he speaks of his castle, Raji asks if there is anything in particular that Shirayuki would like to see. She answers that the greenhouse sparks her interest and Raji agrees to take her there. Before they go any further, Obi points out how there are several people keeping an eye on them. Several servants and guards quickly duck out of sight and Raji calls out his staff for wanting to see what was going on during Shirayuki's visit.

Deciding to avoid all of the attention, Raji leads Shirayuki and Obi to an entrance that will take them to several underground tunnels. When Raji admits that the tunnels are not often used as they were constructed for emergencies, Shirayuki fears they could become lost but Raji assures her that he knows the fastest way to the greenhouse. However, after a while and Obi pointing out that they've doubled back on themselves, it starts to become clear that Raji is not familiar enough with the tunnels to know where he is going.

When they reach a large iron gate and think they have found a way to open it, Obi quickly saves Raji from getting hit with an arrow that shoots from the wall. This causes Raji to remember that there are traps all over the tunnels that were set in the event invaders made their way into the tunnels. When Raji stands, he accidentally steps on a stone that causes the path behind them to be closed and the gate in front of them to open. Shirayuki suggests that they stay put until someone finds them but Raji turns down the suggestion when he reveals that no one goes into the tunnels unless there is an emergency or the guards are on patrol; which won't be until the next morning.

The three continue to move forward but Raji starts to become tired and believing that they will not be able to escape. He states that Shirayuki must believe that bad luck may occur whenever they're together but Shirayuki says otherwise and urges Raji to keep moving forward. Hearing Shirayuki say that she can rely on him, Raji is filled with a new sense of determination and is able to keep moving. Before he follows, Obi senses something down the tunnel. After he catches up to Shirayuki and Raji, Rona and Eugena peek out from their hiding place. Eugena wishes to turn back but Rona wants to keep watching, amazed by having seen how Shirayuki was able to motivate Raji just now.

Back in Clarines, Mitsuhide enters Zen's office and notices the prince is missing. Kiki informs him that Zen is meeting with the new bird handlers that will train Clarines' new messenger birds. In the courtyard, Zen admires how Kihal and Popo work together. Kihal asks for Shirayuki and learns that she is currently in Tanbarun. Kihal is upset that Shirayuki is not present as she had a gift for her, a bell made from walnut stone that was made to show her gratitude for Shirayuki's help during her last visit to the castle. Zen offers to give the bell to Shirayuki when she returns and then starts the plans of how to start training select soldiers to become handlers.

Walking down a hallway, Mitsuhide encounters Izana who is watching Zen and notices how hard he is working. Izana points out how he can tell that Mitsuhide wants to ask something and urges him to do so. Mitsuhide asks Izana if everything he is doing to Zen and Shirayuki is a test and is surprised when Izana answers that it is. Mitsuhide points out how Zen and Shirayuki brings out the best in each other and Izana admits that he's curious to see what the future holds for the two. Izana suddenly asks Mitsuhide to stand closer to him which causes Popo to land on Mitsuhide's shoulder and expose to the two to Zen.

In the tunnels, the group is making their way through a watered area; with Obi carrying Raji on his shoulders. As they make their way forward, Obi suddenly stops and asks that the two stay put as he wants to check something. When Obi returns to the path they just walked through, he notices that a path has been lowered to allow access across the water and notices two figures ducking out of sight. He hurries down the path and is narrowly able to avoid two traps that Rona set off. Allowing the two to think they've captured him, Obi sneaks up behind the twins and captures them.

Back with Raji and Shirayuki, Shirayuki starts to become worried about Obi and wants to go look for him but Raji tries to keep her from leaving by asking what she would think if Zen learned she got hurt. Although startled at first, Shirayuki says that she will return to Clarines right away if Raji thinks that her words and actions feel like threat and points out that it wouldn't be of any good to anyone if she continued to stay. Raji corrects himself and wonders why it is that she returned to Tanbarun, wondering if she did it merely for appearances. Shirayuki snaps at Raji and answers that she had wanted to try to become friends with him. She confesses that she tries to form bonds with people she meets and is always able to learn more in process. While she admits that they had a bad start, Shirayuki believes that they can change that and have a better relationship.

Just then, Obi arrives with the twins who are revealed to be Raji's younger siblings. Rona claims that they don't know the way out but Eugena proves her false by saying that he knows how to get them out. As they walk up a staircase, Raji admits that they took an unexpected detour but Shirayuki points out that something good came from it as Raji was now able to look her in the eyes when he speaks.

The twins lead the way into the greenhouse where Shirayuki right away becomes enamored at all of the exotic and rare flowers. As Shirayuki and Obi look at the plants, Rona takes the chance to approach Raji and reveal that she and Eugena had been watching him watch Shirayuki. She bluntly asks if Raji is in love with Shirayuki but Raji tries to deny it. Rona continues to point out how Raji has changed since he saw Shirayuki in Clarines. Raji claims that he is not changing in the way that Rona suspects and admits that he is uncertain of how long Shirayuki will stay in Tanbarun, thinking that she may grow tired of him and leave early.

While Shirayuki continues to look at the plants, Raji calls Obi over for a word. Obi is surprised when Raji apologizes for the trouble that happened and asks that he relay the message to Shirayuki. Obi agrees and Rona and Eugena are just as surprised from having heard Raji apologize for his own mistake. At the end of the day, Shirayuki thanks Raji for showing her the greenhouse. Raji allows her to visit the greenhouse as much as she wants while she is there. When he tries to leave, Shirayuki states that she looks forward to seeing him the next day.

In Clarines, Zen and Mitsuhide are together when Zen asks his friend what he and Izana were talking about earlier. Mitsuhide answers that they had a simple talk but Zen doesn't appear convinced. Regardless, he does not press the issue further and declares that whatever Izana is up to will not get between him and Shirayuki. Kiki arrives and informs Zen that Kazuki has been sighted and that Mihaya has vanished from the castle grounds.

At the port, Kazuki is sitting on a ship when Mihaya appears behind him. Mihaya reveals that he had tried to make money at the castle after their first meeting but didn't succeed. Now he plans to capture Kazuki and turn him in for a fortune. However, Kazuki proves difficult for Mihaya to capture. He tells Mihaya that he's not the true villain that's after Shirayuki and offers Mihaya the fortune he's after if he teams up with him.
