Summary[]
Mitsuhide and Kiki formally greet the trio, Shirayuki, Zen, and Obi after their sudden encounter from the last chapter. Kiki tells the trio about the harvest festival and adds on that "It will be nice if our vacation times lined up like this again." Shirayuki tells Kiki that she would love to go next time and adds on that she would love to see Kiki at the evening festival. Mitsuhide replies that Kiki was in fact "She was very....beautiful." Kiki stating that Mitsuhide was "the same, as usual." The trio beginning to wonder if anything happened between the two. Obi asks if Kiki ever saw a different side of Mitsuhide even with all the wine, merriment, etc. Kiki replies that there were some interesting moments with Hisame. In which Zen with a surprised look shockingly asks if Hisame was really there or if her eyes were playing tricks on her.
Shirayuki turns in early since she had an early morning and Kiki informs Zen that Mitsuhide turned down her proposal, which shocks Obi to the point of speechlessness. Zen and Kiki go outside to talk and Zen can't seem to understand why Mitsuhide would turn Kiki down, and Kiki informs him that to Mitsuhide marrying her would be too similar to marrying Zen, as Mitsuhide sees them both in a similar familial light. She also carefully points out that neither of them actually thought Mitsuhide had any romantic inclinations towards Kiki even when she first told Zen her plans. They talk a bit more and she convinces Zen that she is fine with and has accepted Mitsuhide's feelings on the matter. She then implies there is something off with Mitsuhide and that dealing with it is up to the prince. Inside Obi tells Mitsuhide he owes him a drink for ruining his buzz, but despite making it clear he is disappointed Mitsuhide and Kiki aren't getting together and calling Mitsuhide thick headed he keeps quiet.
