Summary[]
The bonus chapter in volume 19 consists of two stories.
Heartbreak for Yuzuri the Plant Collector[]
Shirayuki and Ryu notice Suzu is spying on Yuzuri, who is moping at a table in the cafeteria. They see Obi approach Yuzuri to chat, which Suzu tells Ryu is a lovers' spat, though Ryu remarks it doesn't appear they argued. Obi walks over to them, commenting they are bad at spying, and reveals Yuzuri told him she is heartbroken, but he didn't ask for any more details. Everyone decides to take Yuzuri out to the pavilion district to cheer her up.
Their efforts appear to have no effect on Yuzuri. Over dinner, she vents about how her years-long dream has been lost. The next day, Shirayuki and Suzu see a report that a young plant collector has retrieved the previously thought to be unobtainable phantom flower - the object of Yuzuri's desire.
Ryu's Second Year in Lilias[]
Ryu notices that he's now able to reach for a book on a higher bookshelf. Rata arrives requesting Shirayuki or Suzu to help him move some things, but both Suzu and Shirayuki are busy with other tasks. Noticing Ryu, Rata decides that Ryu can help after having Ryu dangle from Rata's arm. Hearing that Rata needed help, Shirayuki goes to his workshop but finds that Ryu has already finished helping Rata. He thanks Ryu and Shirayuki and pays them with sweets.
That night, Obi tells Ryu that he saw Ryu carrying the heavy loads for Rata. When Obi asks Ryu what he feels is the best part of growing bigger and stronger, Ryu answers that he's closer to Shirayuki's red hair. Obi and Suzu tease Ryu that his response could be interpreted as a pick-up line. When Ryu asks if his response is strange, they suggest saying it to Shirayuki to see how she responds.
The next day, Ryu tells Shirayuki he's glad her red hair is at his eye level now and asks if she thinks that's wrong. Shirayuki tells him she doesn't think it isn't and feels reminded of how things were when they first met at Wistal. She remarks that how nice it is that Ryu can lift heavier things, will chat with other staff occasionally, and will share meals with Obi and the others. Meanwhile, Obi and Suzu comment that the situation didn't go they way they anticipated.
