Tariga Bergatt (タリガ・べルガット; Tariga Berugatto) is a noble from the Bergatt House and currently works inside the Wilant Castle. He is usually seen alongside his older twin brother, Tsuruba Bergatt.
Appearance[]
Like his brother, he has feminine features. Tariga wears his hair in a braid. This distinguishes him from his brother, Tsuruba, who wears his hair in a ponytail. Hair color is known to be light colored, along with his eyes.
Personality[]
Tariga is fiercely loyal to his brother Tsuruba, which led him to make several rash decisions. This loyalty eventually expanded to Zen and those close to him.
History[]
Tariga was born into the Bergatt House, alongside his twin Tsuruba. When they were young the Bergatt house was the most powerful family in Wilant in the northern part of Clarines but that changed when it was learned that the Bergatt house was misusing their power. The queen regent Haruto Wistaria learned of this information and stripped the Bergatt house of their power and moved to Wilant Castle to oversee the northern part of Clarines. After his father's death, his older brother, Touka Bergatt, became the head of the family and decided one day he would take back their land and power from the crown. Soon, Tariga and his twin Tsuruba were needed to help their older brother with various jobs which trained them to have good combat and speed skills.
Tariga and Tsuruba arrive at the Sereg Knights base in search to become Sereg knights. They meet Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki and become Sereg knights soon after. With the event of Kiki's suitor, Hisame Lugis, suddenly getting injured, Mitsuhide is accused of being the cause of the injury and is temporary stripped of his title as Zen's aide and is put under house arrest. Tariga and Tsuruba are then seen as a good option for Zen's new aide replacement. Eventually Zen and Kiki find out Tariga has been a suitor for Kiki all along. In the search for the mysterious event surrounding Kiki's suitor, Tariga and Tsuruba are found out to be part of the events. However they realize that they regret being part of the event because Zen has become their light that they have been looking for and want to help clean up the Bergatt mess and destroy the creator of the events, Touka Bergatt.
Tsuruba leaves the base to kill Touka, while Tariga stays at the base waiting for his brother's return. However he soon finds out that Touka has arrived at the base first and that Tsuruba has not come back. Tariga and Zen rush to meet Touka, however Tariga meets Touka first to discuss about his brother Tsuruba. He poisons the air to make the surrounding guards unconscious while he talks to. Touka tries to persuade Tariga into coming back to his side, but Tariga only want to know about the whereabouts of Tsuruba. Touka then threaten's that if Tariga doesn't follow his plan of assassinating Zen then he will kill Tsuruba.
However Tariga believes that Tsuruba is safe and refuses to go with Touka's plans anymore. He leaves Touka to join the Sereg Knights and Zen to defend the base and protect Zen. Tariga, Zen, and some knights rush to where Touka was at; however, Touka has also drugged the place making most of the knights leave the place before they are drugged unconscious. Tariga and Zen stay to meet Touka which has now vowed to kill Zen, Tariga and Tsuruba to show that they are only his "pawns". More of Touka's assassins arrive next to Touka to fight against Zen, Tariga, and the remaining Sereg knights. While Zen is fighting with Touka, Mitsuhide and Kiki arrive at the scene to fight against Touka, while Tariga is protecting Zen. Once Touka is arrested, Tsuruba and Tariga are pardoned of their crimes but are put under house arrest. Tariga serves the Wilant Castle and was tasked to rebuild the Bergatt house from the outside.
Relationships[]
Tsuruba Bergatt[]
Tsuruba is Tariga's older twin brother. They are almost always seen together because they came to only trust each other in their attempts to stay alive in their turbulent household. They have become guarded and rarely associate themselves with others, although they do communicate with others. This changed after they met Zen, supporting each other peacefully.
Just like how Tsuruba is extremely protective of him, likewise, Tariga extremely cared for Tsuruba, to the point he was willing to give up the important evidences they have to bring their Touka down after knowing he could save Tsuruba with it.
Zen Wistaria[]
Tariga looks up to Zen and respects him. He ended up choosing Zen's side despite worrying over Tsuruba's safety as he was determined to not let Zen be harmed by Touka. His respect gradually become stronger as he works alongside Zen after the incident concerning his house was resolved.
Trivia[]
- Zen noted in chapter 82 that when Tariga is responding to someone calling out to him he only turns half of his body to look at them first, this differs from his older twin brother Tsuruba who immediately turns to face the person. He also noted that the way they blink their eyes is different.
